I began my career as a nurse, receiving degrees from the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia, and The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland. I practiced photography as a hobby until 1992 when I won the annual Aubrey Bodine Photography competition sponsored by the Baltimore Sunpapers.

I relocated from Maryland to Western North Carolina twelve years ago and joined the Lake Lure Artist’s Association. I have studied photography in Maryland, in Asheville, North Carolina, with Tim Barnwell, and in Penland, North Carolina, at the Penland School.

I create photoart i.e., art with the camera, in the Lake Lure, North Carolina area. I have a permanent exhibit at the Rumbling Bald Resort on Lake Lure, and am in numerous private collections.
